Denver is a mostly rural unincorporated community on the west shore of Lake Norman. Here you’ll find a small-town feel, plenty of green space, and relatively little commercial development. Residents take advantage of convenient access to the recreational opportunities and the amenities and attractions in nearby Charlotte.

Formerly known as Dry Pond, Denver is a census-designated place and unincorporated community with just over 2,000 residents. Denver is a laid-back and family-oriented community that is less populated than the east side of Lake Norman, but the area is experiencing steady growth for those pursuing rural lakefront living with a lower price tag.
Denver hosts a number of festivals and events each year, including the Strawberry Festival, Denver Days, Camp Meeting at the historic Rock Springs Campground, and a Christmas Parade. Additionally, the community hosts a farmers’ market each spring and summer.
Beatty’s Ford Park is a picturesque park along the water with picnic shelter, disc golf course, walking trail, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, splash park, playgrounds, and an amphitheater. Westport Golf Club is a public 18-hole course in Denver with tree-lined fairways.
Education
Denver is served by Lincoln County Schools. Schools include Catawba Springs Elementary School, Rock Springs Elementary School, St. James Elementary School, North Lincoln Middle School, and East Lincoln High School, in addition to Lincoln Charter School. Denver is situated near a variety of colleges and universities, including Gaston College, Central Piedmont Community College, University of North Carolina Charlotte, and more.
